The College of Education, under the leadership of its Provost, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe and the College’s Implementation Team for the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, has successfully organise a two-day retreat aimed at crafting a College-Specific Action Plan. The event, which took place from Thursday, 19th to Friday, 20th December, 2024, brought together key stakeholders, including budget holders, staff and student representatives, to align the College’s Action Plan with the University’s Strategic Plan.
Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Registrar delivering the opening remarks
In his opening remarks, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, the College Registrar, welcomed participants and outlined the focus of the retreat. He noted that the retreat aimed to translate the University’s 2024-2029 Strategic Plan into Action Plan tailored to the College’s context. Participants worked collaboratively to identify activities, develop key performance indicators (KPIs), set timelines and assign responsibility for implementing each activity.
Dr. Collins Badu Agyemang
Day one of the retreat featured a session led by Dr. Collins Badu Agyemang, a member of the team that developed the 2024-2029 University Strategic Plan. He walked participants through the University’s Strategic Plan, offering guidance to all five working groups tasked with crafting College-Specific Action Plan aligned with the Strategic Priority areas.
“This session will provide each group working on the five Strategic Priority areas, specifically; Transformative Student Experience, Impactful Research, Commitment to our Faculty and Staff, Engagement and Partnerships and Sustainable Resource Mobilisation and Stewardship, with the tools and clarity needed to tailor the College’s Action Plan to the University’s overarching Strategic Plan,” Dr. Badu Agyemang remarked.

Additionally, the Provost of the College, Prof. Codjoe, who also represented the University’s Inter-Collegiate Team, delivered a presentation outlining the expectations for each College’s contribution to implementing the Strategic Plan. His insights added depth to the discussions and provided a clear framework for participants to structure their work.

The second day of the retreat focused on refining the group activities. Participants continued to develop detailed action plans, specifying activities, KPIs and timelines while assigning responsibilities to ensure accountability. The collaborative effort promoted teamwork among College officials, staff and student representatives, uniting them under a shared vision for the College’s progress.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Codjoe thanked the participants for the hard work and expressed optimism about the retreat’s actionable outcomes. He remarked, “The College of Education looks forward to implementing its Strategic Plan and contributing to the success of the 2024-2029 University of Ghana Strategic Plan.”
