As part of a campus-wide tour aimed at inspiring teams and celebrating participation in the inaugural season, the University of Ghana’s Sports and Wellness Directorate, led by its Director, Dr. Austin Luguterah, brought the UG Corporate Football League trophy to the Office of the Provost at the College of Education.

Now in its first season, the UG Corporate Football League is bringing together staff and faculty from across the University in a refreshing mix of sport, fitness and friendly rivalry. The league aims to promote unity and well-being, with each match offering not just competition, but community.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of the Sports and Wellness Directorate, explained the purpose behind the tour. “As we transition into the second half of the season, we want every participating unit to feel part of the experience,” he said. “Even if a team does not emerge victorious, they should still have the opportunity to see and connect with the trophy. It’s about inclusion and appreciation for the effort each team is putting in,” he remarked.

Welcoming Dr. Luguterah and his team, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education, expressed his appreciation for the gesture. Reflecting on the College’s team, the Edu Warriors, he acknowledged their slow start but was quick to highlight their growth and determination.

“Our team may not have had the strongest opening, but they are showing real commitment and progress,” he said. “More importantly, this league reflects the University’s broader commitment to the well-being of its staff and faculty. It encourages physical activity, teamwork and a healthy work-life balance. He added that he would continue to encourage members of the College community to take part in the initiative.

The visit concluded with lively interaction, photographs and renewed enthusiasm as the trophy made its way to the next participating unit.
