Provost calls on Stakeholder Departments of the Distance Education Programme

Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe has called on stakeholder departments of the Distance Education Programme to continuously engage and dialogue to enhance students' learning experience as well as to spell out its shortfalls.

The Provost made this statement during a meeting between College Management, Heads of Departments and Coordinators of the Distance Education Programme. Prof. Codjoe indicated that in order for the programme to achieve its mandate, there was the need to strengthen the communication channels and encourage the sharing of ideas between the parties involved.

The stakeholders mentioned that the Distance Education programme provided an opportunity for citizens in the various regions to enroll in higher education. In this regard, it would be crucial to add postgraduate courses to the programme to meet the educational needs of citizens.

The meeting discussed strategies to enhance the efficient delivery of the programme and ensure that students obtain the requisite knowledge and skills aligned to their respective degrees.

In his closing remarks, the Provost pledged his commitment to put in place measures to strengthen the Distance Education programme. He stated that he will work hand-in-hand with the departments to see to the implementation of their ideas.

Present at the meeting was the Dean, School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE), Prof. Olivia Kwapong and Dean of the Business School, Prof. Justice Bawole. Heads of Departments present included Departments of Distance Education, Computer Science, Economics, Public Administration and Services, Adult Education and Human Resource Studies, Teacher Education, and Information Studies. Both Co-ordinators of Psychology and Nursing Departments were also present.

Other officers of the College of Education who were also present at the meeting included Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Secretary, Mr. Michael Owusu- Ansah, College Finance Officer, Mr. Moses Bawa, College Academic Officer and Mrs. Regina Afari Boateng, School Administrator, SCDE.
