Provost of the College of Education Meets with Faculty and Staff

The new Provost of the College of Education, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe interacted with staff and faculty of the College on his first day at work. The main purpose of the meeting was to officially introduce himself to members of the College fraternity.

In his introductory remark, Prof. Codjoe extended his appreciation to the immediate past Provost of the College, Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio for taking him through the onboarding process and thanked all staff present for attending the meeting. He indicated that he looked forward to a fruitful working relationship with all members of the College.

Giving a brief of his vision, the Provost mentioned that his main agenda would be to spearhead research in the College by providing the needed resources and creating the enabling environment for faculty to conduct research and solicit for international funding for their projects. According to him, this will drive the growth and development of the College also aligns with the University of Ghana’s vision of becoming a world-class research-intensive university.

In his submission, the outgone Provost, Prof. Oteng-Ababio thanked faculty and staff for the cordial relationship over the past year. He wished the new Provost well in his new role and urged the faculty and staff to give him the maximum support to achieve his goals and aspirations for the College. He used the occasion to acknowledge Prof. Harry Akussah of the Department of Information Studies for his selfless effort and contribution to the College.

Prof. Olivia Kwapong, Dean of the School of Continuing and Distance Education in a brief remark, welcomed the new Provost to the College. She agreed with him on the need to boost the research capacity of the College and urged faculty to support in the realization of this vision. Prof. Kwapong also thanked the outgone Ag. Provost for his enormous contribution and dedicated service during his tenure of office.

Present at the meeting were the Deans of the College, the College Secretary, the Acting Principals of Kumasi and Takoradi City Campus, the College Finance Officer, the College Human Resource Officer, the College Academic Officers, Heads of Department, School Administrators, faculty and staff.
