Provost and his team with the staff of Takoradi Learning Centre
A team from the College of Education led by the Provost, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, and accompanied by Prof. Charity Akotia (Chairperson, City Campus Implementation Committee), Ms. Dorinda Nbinmah Yeboah (Assistant Registrar), Mr. Prince Blay Boateng (Administrative Assistant) and Mr. Gabriel Pereira (National Service Person) paid a working visit to the Takoradi City Campus (TCC) in Western Region on February 15, 2023. The visit provided an opportunity for the Provost to interact and familiarise himself with the staff, students and operations of the City Campus.

In his welcome address, the Coordinator of the TCC, Dr. Lawrence Afutu-Kotey expressed his appreciation and that of his staff to the Provost and his team for visiting the Campus.
Addressing the staff, Prof. Codjoe officially introduced himself as the Provost of the College of Education and expressed his satisfaction with the work at the TCC. Sharing his vision with the staff, the Provost highlighted his plans on making research a driving force in the College by providing the needed resources and creating the enabling environment for faculty to conduct research. He disclosed that the College is exploring means to bring opportunities to the Campuses to make it vibrant. He was grateful to the staff for the warm reception and informed them that he would regularly visit them.

In her initial submission, Prof. Charity Akotia, Chair of the Implementation Team for the Takoradi and Kumasi City Campuses informed the meeting that the Vice-Chancellor and the Management of the College are committed to supporting the Implementation team to ensure that the Campus kicks off soon. She thanked the staff for their support and urged them to keep it up and work hard to promote the image of the University.

During an interaction session, staff present at the meeting enumerated some challenges that affected their work. These challenges included delays in their promotion process, delays in processing financial claims, challenges with electricity and water, inadequate security supplies and some infrastructural problems. In his closing remarks, the Provost commended the staff for their efforts and assured them of his support and that of his team. He also noted the concerns raised and assured them he is putting in place measures to mitigate the issues.
The team also inspected some ongoing developmental projects at the Campus. To crown the visit, the Provost hosted the staff of the Learning Centre to a dinner which was interspersed with music and dance.
