The Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy (LECERP)

Welcome to the Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy (LCERP), where we seek to Empower Policy, Shape Education, Inspire Change.

The Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy (LECERP) is the research arm of the College of Education at the University of Ghana. Our core strategic objectives focus on three pillars: Research, Training, and Advocacy.

At LECERP, we firmly believe that education serves as the cornerstone of societal progress and development. However, we also recognize that education systems around the world are confronted with complex and evolving challenges. Addressing these requires innovative solutions that are informed by rigorous research and grounded in practical application. This is where LECERP comes in — at the intersection of academic rigour and practical solutions.

Our mission is clear: to empower policy, shape education, and inspire change. Through this mission, we seek to influence educational policies and practices by providing timely, accurate, and relevant research that speaks to the needs of the 21st century. At LECERP, we provide basic, applied and implementation research that generate evidence for policy effectiveness and implementation efficiency. Our vision is to create an environment where education policy is informed by data and research, and where scholarly work translates into real-world solutions that benefit society.

LECERP is not just a research institution; it is a collaborative space where academics, policymakers, practitioners, and the public come together to engage in meaningful conversation on the challenges and opportunities facing education. We actively seek collaboration and partnership. We are also committed to nurturing the next generation of education leaders and scholars by offering opportunities for capacity-building, knowledge-sharing, and professional development. Through workshops, seminars, and partnerships with educational institutions both locally and globally, we aim to create a vibrant community that fosters learning and innovation. LECERP is in the process of mounting a Master's program in Educational Research and Evaluation as well as tailor-made short courses to meet the needs of stakeholders. The MA/MPhil programme is intended to prepare graduates for more advanced studies of quantitative and qualitative methods and for roles in research organizations.
