It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the webpage and gateway of the College of Education International Programmes Office.

OVERVIEW

A person in a suit with his arms crossedDescription automatically generatedThe College of Education International Programmes Office commenced operations on January 2, 2023, and is a Unit that owe allegiance to both the University’s International Programmes Office and the College of Education. The mandate of the Unit is to coordinate the development and implementation of the College’s Internationalisation Strategy in line with the University of Ghana’s Internationalisation Strategy. The Unit also serves as a reference point that is well positioned to develop, implement and lead an all-inclusive internationalisation strategy for the College. In this regard, the Unit is committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity, encourages collaborative learning because, a true sustainable education transcends borders.

The above fall in line with the objectives of College of Education, which include the promotion of academic excellence grounded on partnerships and international education that is sustainable. The College is therefore poised to use International Programmes as a conduit to a world of opportunities for our students, faculty, administrators, staff and all our stakeholders. In furtherance of this, the College has a very strong Distance Education Programme that uses emerging and relevant technologies to enhance teaching, learning and administration.

Through strategic partnerships with prestigious universities, organisations and institutions worldwide, the Unit offers a diverse range of exchange programmes, study abroad opportunities, cultural exchanges, internship programmes and other exciting programmes. From these engagements, our students and staff have the chance to immerse themselves in new cultures, languages, and academic frameworks, broadening their horizons and challenging their perspectives.

Beyond our traditional academic programmes, our work and outlook focus on International Programmes that emphasises the value of authentic cultural exchange and mutual understanding. We believe that learning from one another's traditions, beliefs and experiences is essential in building a harmonious world.

  • Create an environment that contributes to the realisation of the College and University’s internationalisation strategies
  • Be a destination for international students, faculty, administrators, staff, strategic partners and stakeholders
  • Be a hub to comprehensive information on exchange destinations, application procedures, scholarships and teaching support services to assist International Programmes at the College
  • Strengthen existing collaborations and partnerships
  • Develop new project collaborations and research opportunities

Opportunities for Collaboration or Partnerships with Units within the College of Education

The College of Education is composed of three vibrant schools, namely, School of Continuing and Distance Education, School of Information and Communication Studies and School of Education and Leadership. The College is home to the Kumasi and Takoradi City Campuses of the University and also has national presence through its eleven Learning Centres located in ten out of the sixteen regions of Ghana, namely; Accra, Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Kumasi, Sunyani, Takoradi, Tamale, Tema, Tsito and Wa. 

Additionally, the College supervises and mentors the six Colleges of Education affiliated to the University of Ghana, namely; Mount Mary, Accra, Enchi, Peki, Gbewaa and Evangelical Presbyterian (Amedzofe) Colleges of Education.

Broad range of academic programmes and Expertise

The College offers broad range of academic programmes and expertise in information, communication, educational leadership, science education, arts education, administration, information technology, educational technology, adult education, development education, and political science, among others. Further, the College offers professional programmes in youth development, communication, librarianship, leadership, teacher education, physical education and sports management, and human resource development.
