In a heartwarming display of appreciation and respect, officials from the College of Education (COE), led by the Provost, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, recently paid a courtesy call on Professor Cephas Omenyo, the Foundation Provost of the College and his family.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Omenyo, who led a session of prayer. She expressed delight in hosting the delegation, appreciating their effort to keep their promise.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, the College Registrar, outlined the purpose of the visit, stating that it was a pledge made during the maiden awards ceremony. He noted the importance of the visit, saying, "The visit is in fulfilment of a promise the College made during the maiden awards ceremony to pay a visit to Professor Omenyo and his family before the end of the year and to convey seasonal well wishes."

Professor Omenyo joined the delegation in warm exchanges, reflecting on his tenure as the founding Provost of the College and his broader contributions to the University of Ghana. He praised God for the hardworking individuals who succeeded him and expressed satisfaction with the College's continued progress.

Contributing to the discussion, Professor Harry Akussah, a former Acting Dean of the School of Information and Communication Studies during Professor Omenyo's tenure, described him as the "father of the College." He recalled the maiden awards ceremony where Professor Omenyo's contributions were celebrated and remarked on the symbolic importance of the visit in commemorating the College's roots. Professor Akussah also commended Professor Codjoe for upholding the legacy of consultation and infusing fresh dynamism into the College's operations.

In his remarks, Professor Codjoe, shared personal reflections on how Professor Omenyo's work had inspired him as a young lecturer. He recalled attending Professor Omenyo's inaugural lecture, which left a lasting impression on him. He also updated Professor Omenyo on the establishment of the Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy (LECERP), which he described as a realisation of Professor Omenyo's vision.
"Dr. Clement Adamba, the first Research Fellow appointed during your tenure, now serves as the Centre's Director," he said, adding that three additional Research Fellows had been recruited.
Reflecting on her husband's impactful career, Mrs. Omenyo stated that “he has laid solid foundations in several tasks assigned to him in both academia and ministry.” Mrs. Omenyo recounted receiving a citation on her husband's behalf during the awards ceremony, noting how emotional he became upon reading it. She expressed pride in his achievements and thanked the officials for their thoughtful visit, encouraging them to maintain their connection with the family.
In his closing remarks, Professor Omenyo expressed his gratitude to the officials for recognising his work as the Foundation Provost and for continuing the legacy he had established. He offered prayers for God's blessings upon the officials and their continued efforts to advance the College's mission.
