College of Education Honours Provost and Dean of the School of Education and Leadership on Their Birthdays

The College of Education at the University of Ghana recently celebrated the birthdays of two distinguished leaders; Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education, and Professor Gordon S. K. Adika, Dean of the School of Education and Leadership (SEL). The occasion brought together faculty, staff, and students in a heartfelt show of appreciation for their dedication and leadership.

The event provided an opportunity for the College community to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of both leaders to the College and the School. Their unwavering commitment to advancing education and fostering an inclusive academic environment was warmly recognised.

Celebrations began with a surprise visit to Professor Codjoe’s office, led by the College Registrar. In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, officials presented him with a customised birthday card signed by staff of the College Secretariat. Touched by the gesture, Professor Codjoe expressed his gratitude, remarking, “this means so much to me. Thank you all for making my day so special.”

The celebrations continued in Professor Adika’s office, where he was similarly greeted with warm wishes from senior management, faculty, staff and students. Speaking on behalf of the College, the Provost extended his appreciation, stating, “we are delighted to celebrate your birthday with you today. Working with such an affable person has been a joy and a blessing. We wish you the very best and trust you will continue to be a vital part of our community.”

Overwhelmed by the surprise, Professor Adika expressed his sincere gratitude, noting that he was deeply moved by the gesture and thanked the Provost and his delegation for their thoughtfulness.

As part of the Provost’s initiative to foster a culture of recognition and appreciation, the College has made a tradition of celebrating the birthdays of its faculty and staff. Professor Codjoe reaffirmed the importance of such initiatives in strengthening collegiality and morale, urging the College Registrar to ensure their continuity.

The birthday celebrations of the Provost and the Dean highlighted the spirit of unity and appreciation within the College of Education. This initiative is expected to reinforce a sense of belonging and mutual respect among faculty and staff at the University of Ghana.
