College of Education Presents New Official Cloth to Senior Management of the University of Ghana

The College of Education, University of Ghana, has unveiled a new official cloth to strengthen its brand identity and promote a deeper sense of unity and belonging among members of its community.

 

The newly designed fabric, produced in elegant blue and black-and-white prints, replaces the previous design which is no longer available. The initiative is part of the College’s broader strategy to promote visibility, unity and institutional pride among students, staff, alumni and partners.

To formally introduce the new design, the Provost of the College, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, led a delegation on a series of courtesy visits to senior management officials of the University. The team called on the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellors for Academic and Student Affairs and Research, Innovation and Development, the Registrar, the Director of Finance and the Provost of the College of Health Sciences.

The delegation also visited the Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), whose building currently houses the College of Education Administration. Similar visits to the Provosts of the Colleges of Humanities and Basic and Applied Sciences have been scheduled for later in the year.

Explaining the symbolism of the cloth during the visits, Professor Codjoe described it as a unifying emblem that represents who we are, a community rooted in learning, service and excellence.”

 

He further linked the initiative to the first and third priority areas of the University of Ghana’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan: Transformative Student Experience and Commitment to Faculty and Staff, indicating that the new cloth reflects the University’s vision to nurture belongingness, motivation and institutional loyalty among members of the University community.

At each visit, the delegation presented yards of the new cloth to the officials as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, encouraging them to wear it during College and other University events. 

 

The gesture was warmly received, with the University officials commending the initiative for its creativity and symbolism. They described the design as “beautiful,” “distinctive” and “a reflection of the College’s vibrant spirit.”

They also commended Professor Codjoe and his team for their foresight, noting that such initiatives reinforce institutional identity and promote cohesion across the University.

In his concluding remarks, Professor Codjoe noted that the unveiling of the new official cloth marks another milestone in the College’s continuous efforts to promote visibility, inclusiveness and community pride. He expressed optimism that the cloth will become a shared emblem of unity and professionalism among all who are connected to the College of Education.
