In a recent virtual interaction, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, the Provost of the College of Education, engaged with faculty and staff from various campuses, including the University of Ghana Learning Centres, Kumasi and Takoradi City campuses.

During his opening remarks, Prof. Codjoe emphasised the importance of the College's Action Plan, stressing the role each individual plays in its successful execution. He highlighted that the plan had been circulated among all faculty and staff beforehand to ensure comprehensive awareness.

Discussing the action points within the plan, the Provost revealed additional initiatives the College plans to undertake. These include organising Scientific Writing Workshops on campus to minimise expenses amidst budgetary constraints and hosting an awards dinner in August, 2024 to recognise outstanding achievements of faculty and staff of the College in several areas and contributions by principals and students from affiliated Colleges of Education.

Prof. Codjoe also announced plans for a structured mentoring programme aimed at facilitating knowledge transfer and career advancement, particularly benefiting early-career faculty members. Additionally, the appointment of a grants manager and the ongoing establishment of a College research team would further enhance research efforts.

One notable initiative discussed was the establishment of the Legon Centre for Education, Research, and Policy, awaiting council ratification to begin operations. This center aims to serve as a hub for scholarly discussions and policy formulation, offering opportunities for faculty participation.

Highlighting the importance of faculty engagement in research, Prof. Codjoe reiterated plans to establish research surveillance sites in coastal communities, expressing confidence in obtaining grants to support these endeavours.

The interaction concluded with members expressing support for the outlined strategic initiatives, indicating an exciting year for the College of Education.
