UGCOE Hosts UCLA Delegation for High-Level Talks on Research Collaboration and Innovation

The College of Education at the University of Ghana hosted a delegation of faculty from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026, for a research-focused engagement centred on collaboration, innovation and shared academic interests.

The meeting provided a platform for both institutions to explore areas of mutual interest, including faculty exchanges, the development of joint academic programmes and improvement in the integration of digital technologies into teaching and learning. Particular attention was given to the need to transition from traditional library systems to more digitally driven approaches.

Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Registrar

Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Registrar of the College of Education, expressed his delight at hosting the UCLA team in person. He noted that although engagements between the two institutions had previously been conducted virtually, the opportunity to meet face-to-face marked an important step towards strengthening collaboration.

The meeting began with introductions from both the College of Education team and the UCLA delegation, setting the tone for open and interactive discussions.

Participants examined educational systems at both macro and micro levels, including policy frameworks that address inequality and classroom-level practices that equip teachers and students with the necessary skills.

Further deliberations highlighted the importance of supporting smooth transitions across educational stages, from basic education to senior high school and from senior high school to university, with an emphasis on ensuring continuity and student preparedness at each level.

The engagement concluded with both parties agreeing to sustain their collaboration through initiatives such as guest lectures, joint research activities and the development of shared programmes. The meeting reaffirmed a mutual commitment to advancing academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive education through strategic partnerships.
