UGKCC Marks Campus Week with Vibrant Activities and Crowning of First Face of UGKCC

 

The University of Ghana Kumasi City Campus (UGKCC) has successfully held its Campus Week Celebration from 12th to 14th March, 2026, culminating in the crowning of its maiden Face of UGKCC.

The celebration, held to commemorate the establishment of the City Campus in March 2023, brought together faculty, staff and students for three days of activities aimed at promoting student welfare, unity and an active campus life, while reflecting on the campus’ growth over the past three years.

Activities began with a seminar on road safety education delivered by Mr. Kwasi Agyenim Boateng, Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Authority, who highlighted the importance of responsible road use and safety awareness among students. 

 

This was followed by a free health screening exercise organised by the Summerfield Medical Centre, offering participants the opportunity to assess and better understand their health status.

Recreational activities featured prominently, with students participating in a series of competitive games designed to foster teamwork and strengthen social bonds. In one of the highlights, Level 300 students defeated their Level 200 counterparts 5–0 in an entertaining football match.

The celebration reached its peak with the maiden edition of Face of UGKCC, a pageantry platform aimed at empowering students, particularly young women, by promoting confidence, intelligence and leadership. Ten contestants took to the stage, impressing the audience with displays of culture, creativity and eloquence.

At the end of the competition, Ms. Stephanie Asiedu Mensah emerged winner and was crowned Face of UGKCC. Ms. Beatrice Boakyewaa was adjudged First Runner-up, followed by Ms. Philipa Mensah as Second Runner-up and M.s Tracy Atweri Freeman as Third Runner-up.

In a related activity, the four winners, together with the Women’s Commissioner, embarked on an excursion to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and other tourist sites as part of efforts to enrich their experience.

 

The successful organisation of the event underscored the growing vibrancy of UGKCC and its commitment to fostering a holistic student experience beyond the classroom.
