The University of Ghana Takoradi City Campus (UGTCC) recently organised a Float and Open Day as part of its sensitization exercise. The Open Day was preceded by a float, during which Officials from UGTCC were accompanied by police officers as they moved through the Takoradi Township, engaging with the community and sharing information about programmes offered at the UGTCC.
Prof. Jemima Anderson, Director, UG-PADA and Member, City Campuses Implementation Team
Professor Jemima Anderson, the Director of the UG-Pan African Doctoral Academy (UG-PADA) and a member of the City Campus Implementation Team, chaired the Open Day on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.
Dr. Robert Lawrence Afutu-Kotey, Coordinator at the UGTCC in his remarks emphasised the importance of establishing a City Campus of choice in the Western Region to provide sterling quality education to prospective students within the region and its surrounding communities.
Professor Bernardin Senadza, the Acting Principal of the Takoradi City Campus
Professor Bernardin Senadza, the Acting Principal of the Takoradi City Campus, highlighted the benefits of studying at the UG Takoradi City Campus (UGTCC) and urged prospective students to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the establishment of the Takoradi and Kumasi City Campuses. He stated that currently, the only programme available to students is the Bachelor of Science in Administration which offers various specializations including Banking and Finance, Insurance, Public Administration, and Health Services Administration. Adding that these courses are taught by renowned faculty of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).
Prof. Jemima Anderson reiterated the benefits for stakeholders joining the UG Takoradi City Campus, providing details on admission quotas, cut-off points, and the opportunity for students to receive education equivalent to that offered at the main campus. She encouraged prospective students to consider admission offers, assuring them of accommodation measures for those interested in hostel facilities. Prof. Anderson further encouraged prospective students to apply for admission at the UGTCC.

A question and answer session followed the presentations, addressing inquiries about the admission processes, the impact of academic backgrounds on admissions, available financial aid for students of the University of Ghana including scholarships from institutions such as the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and Tullow Oil Scholarships. Students were urged to work hard to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for the selection of scholarship awardees.
