The College of Education has celebrated six faculty members who were promoted to the rank of Associate Professor during the 2024/2025 academic year at its 2nd Pen Ceremony, recognising their outstanding contributions to scholarship and academic leadership.

Delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s address, Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development (RID), praised the initiative, describing the ceremony as “elegant in its simplicity, yet rich in meaning.”
He added, “The pen we present to them symbolises years of persistence, the quiet hours spent refining ideas, the energy devoted to nurturing students and the determination to produce work that endures.”

Prof. John Owusu Gyapong, Guest Speaker
Guest Speaker, Prof. John Owusu Gyapong, Secretary-General of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), urged the honourees to see their new status as the beginning of greater responsibility in research and knowledge production.

Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education
Chairing the ceremony, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education, described the Pen as a symbol of intellectual labour that defines academia, celebrating achievements, inspiring others and encouraging scholarly advancement.


The honourees are Prof. Moses Kumi Asamoah, Prof. Philip Kwaku Kankam, Prof. David Addae, Prof. Simon-Peter Kafui, Prof. Yaw Owusu-Agyeman, and Prof. Kwaku Darko Amponsah, who were recognised for their remarkable achievements in teaching, research and service to the University.

Present at the ceremony were members of the College Management Committee, Heads of Departments, faculty, staff, family, students and other members of the University community who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the honourees.
