The Executives of the University of Ghana Kumasi City Campus Junior Common Room (UGKCC JCR) recently paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, as part of efforts to build stronger relationships with key stakeholders and draw attention to issues affecting students and the Campus community.

The courtesy call, which was the JCR executives’ first engagement with Dr. Amoakohene since his appointment, provided an opportunity for the student leaders to brief the Minister on developments at the Campus, their activities and concerns requiring stakeholder support.

Dr. Amoakohene, who invited the executives to share their experiences and challenges, listened to their concerns and encouraged continued engagement between the Campus and relevant stakeholders.

A major issue raised by the JCR was the poor drainage system behind the Campus. According to the student leaders, the drainage problem had contributed to the collapse of the wall, creating potential safety and security concerns for students, faculty and staff.

The Minister assured the delegation that he would give attention to the concerns raised and expressed his readiness to support efforts to address the challenges confronting the Campus.

The engagement forms part of the UGKCC JCR’s efforts to strengthen stakeholder relations and advocate for improvements that will enhance the safety, welfare and overall student experience at the Campus.
