College of Education, University of Ghana Graduates of Over 4,400 Students

The College of Education, University of Ghana recently held Congregation ceremonies, graduating a total of 4,428 students who successfully completed their academic programmes during the 2022/2023 academic year. The ceremonies took place from Wednesday, January 24th to Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at the Great Hall.  Under the guidance of the College Secretary, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, the ceremonies proceeded smoothly.

Welcoming the esteemed guests and graduands, the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia N.K. Agyei-Mensah, expressed her delight at the achievement of the graduands, emphasising their dedication and perseverance in meeting the requirements for graduation. She also highlighted the University's commitment to graduating over 15,000 students across 15 ceremonies during this January 2024 graduation ceremonies.

The Provost of the College of Education, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, acknowledged both international and Ghanaian students participating in the January 2024 congregation ceremonies, highlighting the global representation with graduands coming from 22 different countries.

Representatives from the University's Council including; Mr. Michael Owusu Ansah, Mrs. Yvette Adouno Atekpe, and Professor Gordon A. Awandare, shared heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from the Chancellor.

The Chancellor commended the University management for integrating technology and humanistic principles to enhance academic and administrative processes, while also congratulating the graduating class for their dedication and commitment to achieving academic excellence.

Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor

In her address to the Congregation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo reiterated the University's dedication to research excellence, highlighting significant grants awarded for conferences and research endeavours. She stressed the University's growing international recognition, exemplified by numerous external grants and research initiatives undertaken by faculty and students. 

 

While congratulating the graduating class, the Vice-Chancellor, said, “you are now poised to step into a world that awaits your contributions, armed with the wisdom and values imparted by this great institution”.  The Provost of the College of Humanities, Professor Daniel Frimpong Ofori presided over other sessions on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

 

During the ceremonies, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe reaffirmed the College's commitment to providing accessible and high-quality tertiary education while congratulating the graduands and expressing gratitude to faculty, tutors and administrators for their unwavering support.

Guest speakers, including Ms. Sandra Thompson, Ms. Golda Esi Andam, and Ms. Doreen Hammond, imparted words of wisdom and encouragement, urging the graduates to embrace the opportunities awaiting them.

Additionally, speeches delivered by the three Valedictorians, Ms. Nana Betse Morson, Mr. Richmond Obeng, and Mrs. Rashidatu Malik, highlighted the transformative journey of the graduating class and the opportunities that lie ahead.

As the ceremonies concluded, graduates were encouraged to maintain their connection with the College and the University and actively participate in alumni activities, thus becoming part of a prestigious network of alumni poised to make a difference.
